Synthesis and Reactions of Naphtho[1¢,2¢:4,5]furo[3,2-b]pyridine and Naphtho[1¢,2¢:4,5]furo[3,2-d]pyrimidine Derivatives

Abstract.     2-Acyl-3-aminonaphtho[2,1-b]furan (1) reacts with activated methylene such as malono nitrile or ethyl cyanoacetate to afford naphtho[1¢,2¢:4,5]furo[3,2-b]pyridine 2a,b. Chloroacylation of the amino group in compound (1) gave compound 3 which reacts with different amines to produce compound 4.
